Noriko Ranks First & Take Goes Traditional Hi, everyone. This is Take the sax player and Noriko's promoter, with some "hot" and "big" news from midsummer Tokyo. |

| ---------------------------------------- 1) Noriko takes first place! ---------------------------------------- Thanks so much to all of you! Noriko's tune "Dancing In The Moonlight" ranked first on the Bossa Nova charts during June 20-July 10 and July 13-July 25. As of August 9, it's still going strong, ranked 4th. We had a really good month in July, with total hits exceeding 20,000. Thank you so much, everyone. Take a listen to the piece at: http://mp3.com/noriko By the way, there's a reason why it took first place. "The Girl From Ipanema," which was ranked first when Noriko was ranked second, was deleted from the Bossa Nova page due to a misunderstanding about the copyright. So Noriko kind of won by default, but I'd like to mention that Mr. Alvaro, who played that "Ipanema," is a superb vocalist and guitarist. I strongly recommend his site at: http://mp3.com/alvaro In July, Noriko joined Teena Marie's U.S. tour as keyboard player. And on August 4, she performed at R&B queen Chaka Khan's concert in Portland, Oregon. As you can see, she takes her major gigs in stride. |

| ---------------------------------------- 2) Take goes traditional with piapi ---------------------------------------- Take, usually a jazz-only person, had an unusual try by offering a tune to Japanese diva piapi. The genre, called "Ondo," is that of a traditional Japanese dance. You might call it a three-hundred-year old form of J-Pop. I believe non-Japanese listeners will get a kick out of this one and laugh, so please take a listen. http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/1777/1777861.html You can see the English translation of the lyrics at: http://homepage2.nifty.com/latinjazz/pc_jisaku_ondo_e.html Those of you interested in Take's jazz, please go here. I'm planning to add two new pieces in August. http://mp3.com/take |

| ======================================== Just a short note: let me introduce three of Take's friends. They are all great artists, so please check out their work. a) Saya - Japanese jazz pianist living in San Francisco. Just had a major debut on July 18 with the CD "Dance Your Heart". The style is straight-ahead jazz. http://mp3.com/saya b) Mikiko - Female vocalist, self-accompanied on piano. The style is J-Pop, true-to-life love songs in everyday language about a young girl's romantic fancies. A must for ballad-lovers. http://mp3.com/mikiko c) luigi yamagata - Bluesy Japanese Rock. Very fluent in English, this guy can really make people (non-Japanese, too) laugh, so enjoy yourselves. http://mp3.com/luigi Thanks as usual for your kind attention.
